The Benevolence Committee provides grants to groups in the community who minister to the needy. Each fall they solicit proposals from local organizations and award grants to them in March. The Benevolence Committee administers a scholarship program that grants money to students in the congregation attending college or seminary. In addition, the Benevolence Committee sponsors the annual Advent Offering and determines where the money will be donated.

South Church has established a partnership with the Alfred G. Zanetti School. The elementary school has received grants for library materials and computers for their learning center. Members of the congregation have volunteered in the classroom and library. Each winter the school receives donations of hats, mittens and winter clothing donated to our "Mitten Tree."
